Merryfall Cakes Bakery is a family run business, based in the heart of Cheshire in a small village of Whitley. Since we began in 2021, we have built up a successful cake business providing bespoke cakes, made to order bakes, wholesale bakes, wedding cakes and exceptional service to new and returning customers.

Steph began baking when our eldest turned one in 2012. She swore that she would bake their children’s birthday cakes each year and this continued into the lockdown of 2020. Having been placed onto furlough, she began baking more often and for friends birthday’s, cheering them up through the uncertain times. The ball began to start rolling….

Word spread locally and Steph became busier and busier. She returned to work in August 2020 and she fell pregnant with her third child in October 2020. Juggling full time nursery work, completing a Montessori Teacher qualification, being pregnant, leading the Kid’s Ministry at our Church and running a house with two children and a husband already, Steph continued to work on the Bakery business on the side. In May 2021, maternity leave from the nursery began earlier than anticipated due to ill health and our third boy arrived in July 2021. With a couple of months of rest and enjoying the new-born bubble stage, in September the diary was back open and Merryfall Cakes really took off!

Fast forward 18 months and we decided that Merryfall Cakes needed a full-time position and Steph left her nursery job and concentrated on continuing to build the business. This started by renovating a barn at the farm and transforming it into a Kitchen Studio. We moved from our small kitchen at home to the Kitchen Studio in October 2022.

September 2023 saw Merryfall Cakes become Merryfall Cakes Bakery Ltd as we moved the business from a Sole Trader to a Limited Company, giving our clients a sense of security of who they are purchasing their bespoke cakes from. 

In 2024, Steph entered into The Wedding Industry Awards and in November 2024 became a Regional Finalist for the North West for her Wedding Cakes. Merryfall Cakes Bakery Ltd has been seen in the local newspapers, with a number of articles, especially when Reuben, Steph's husband, joined the business in 2024 full time.

I absolutely love what I do, trusting the process of creating something from nothing and seeing the faces of the recipient when receiving the cake and if I'm really blessed to witness the tasting of the cake too!

I strive on ensuring each client has a unique experience with Merryfall Cakes which makes them want to return time and time again by becoming their 'Cake Lady'!

Reuben

I am mostly behind the scenes, baking everything that goes out of the kitchen, from brownies, rocky roads, to the tiered wedding cakes.

I am always open to trying different flavours and ensuring we are staying on top of the game with the most delicious cakes and bakes in our local area.
